[Ischia, 16 May 2016] The 14th edition of Ischia Film Festival, international competition concerning film locations, will take place from June 25th to July 2nd.
The selected works are the ones which better enhanced the territory through location choices, promoting its historical and social reality, traditions and culture. Over 600 films from 50 different countries around the world took part in the application, closed on March 31st of this year.
Among other special things, this edition counts two focus sections on Ukrainian and North European cinema, alongside with two necessary tributes. On March 17th, was the 40th anniversary of the departure of Master of Cinema Luchino Visconti, whose ashes were laid to rest in his villa “La Colombaia” in Forio, one of the towns of the Island. To homage the great Master, who chose the Island as his sacred place, Ischia Film Festival will open its 14th edition on June 25th with a screening of one masterpiece of the director.
The same night the vernissage of the photographic exhibition “The first Visconti: Ossessione and La terra trema on-set”, curated by Antonio Maraldi and Centro Cinema Città di Cesena, will take place.
This edition will end with another tribute to Stanley Kubrick’s favorite set designer and two times Oscar winner Sir Ken Adam, passed away on March 10th. He was, since the very first year, President of honor of Ischia Film Festival.
