[Ischia 12/06/2015] In order to promote the territory trough the audiovisual, cooperating with independent festivals, the Ischia Film Festival wish to offer, also for this 2015 edition, a showcase of works set around the Baltic Sea. Together with the major European festival promoting north European films: the “Nordische Filmtage Lübeck”, for the fourth years in a row,  some between the most important cinematographic works of 2014 will be screenings (never been screen before in Italy), the ones deeply describing the north European cultural identity.

Opening for the focus, whose president during last editions were the Swedish director Oscar awarded Bille August, this year will be the Norwegian director Jan Vardøen with the Italian premiere “Heart of Lightness”. This film, based on the theatrical piece by Henrik Ibsen, talks about eight English actors traveling to the Arctic Circle to make a movie about the Ibsen work “The lady from the sea”. The director has declared to be so glad to have his premiere in ischia, where Ibsen stayed many years.
The focus also includes many others important works, for example the Swedish film “Och piccadilly circus ligger inter i kumla” directed by  Bengt Danneborn, the Finnish documentary “Joka muistaa vähän enempi” by Minna Valjane, the Latvian documentary “Pelican in the desert” by Viesturs Kairišs, the irish short film “Skerry” by Eythor Jòvinsson and the film set in the Faroe Islands “Ludo” directed by Katrin Ottarsdóttir who will be present during the festival with the producer Hugin Eide.

“Once again” - claimed Michelangelo Messina, the Ischia Film Festival director - “the Ischia festival  lies at the heart of europe as platform for European territorial cultural diversity promoted by audiovisual”. Exactly as the president Martin Shultz said that for the second year in a row wished to award the festival with the moral patronage of the European Parliament.
The North Europe Focus this year will be chaired by Linde Fröhlich, the Nordische Filmtage Lübeck director and will take place, as always, during the Ischia Film Festival organised by the association Art Movie & Music with the support of the General Cinema Direction of  MiBACT and with the patronage of region Campania.
