[Ischia, June 8th 2015] From June 27th to July 4th, 2015, at the Aragonese Castle of Ischia, will take place the thirteenth edition of the Ischia Film Festival, the only international competition concerning film locations that gives recognition to the artistic audiovisual works, directors, directors of photography and set designers who have most valued Italian and international locations highlighting the landscapes and cultural identity.
Conceived and directed by Michelangelo Messina, the festival is made with the high patronage of the European Parliament and with the support of the Mibac, Ministry of Culture Film Board.
Eight days of projections coming from 39 differents countries from all over the world. 109 selected works including 54 national premieres and 2 world premieres and 2 european premieres, without considering those italian premieres whose are also mondial premieres. In the selection we find 42 italian productions or co-productions prooving the festival engagement in the promoton of the italian cinema. 40 works enterend in the contest: feature films , shorts and documentaries competing for the festival prices. Every evening from 21.00 outdoor screenings, tributes and meetings with international guests in 5 differents locations of the Castel.
Works that enhance and promote the traditions, the historical reality, landscapes and peculiarities of those territories that were chosen for the film narrative or documentary. To enrich the evenings meetings with directors and actors for "Talking about movie" under the stars in the beautiful historical landscape of the Aragonese Castle. Among the guests that will be attended: the Italian directors Laura Bispuri and Edoardo De Angelis and many foreign directors, the actors Lillo Petrolo (from Lillo and Greg) Francesco Paolantoni, Enrico Lo Verso, Amiel Cayo and Giacomo Rizzo and many more guests that will be annonced in next days.
The Lifetime Achievement Award 2015 will be given to Pasquale Squitieri, a really independent director, his cinema is unfiltered, direct, without any compromise. Defense attorney and then director, Pasquale Squitieri will be in Ischia next July, 3rd to collect the award and for this special occasion, during the evening his movie “Li chiamarono briganti” and his last work “L’altro Adamo” will be projected.
The Foreing Award 2015, award traditionally given to foreign production choosing Italy for their shootings, will be given to Enzo Sisti, an dynamic italian executive producer who made only during the year 2014-2015 international kolossals as “Ben-Hur”, last James Bond movie, Agente 007 and “Christ the lord” leading, not only a promotion to Italian locations, but also a great economic income.
The Ischia Film Festival will be also the opportunity for remember and celebrate two italian important directors unfortunately passed away. The evening dedicated to Francesco Rosi will feature a rendez vous with Adriano Pintaldi and the projection of “Le mani sulla città”; the homage to Mario Monicelli (already member of the honors committee of the festival) for the 100th anniversary of his bith, will be realised thought the projection of “Proibito” and “Le rose del deserto”.
During the event there will be also a location’s market: the “International Location and Cinetourims Exchange”, an opportunity of mutual exchange between cinema and tourism, and the “International Convention of Cine-tourism"involving the most importants representatives members of the cinema industry link with the territorial marrketing. To top it all off, the photography exibition “Villeggiatura e vacanze nel cinema italiano (1949 – 2011)” by Antonio Maraldi.
Participants will be required to show their cultural pass, that can be bought at the Festival Info Point, in Piazzale Aragonese starting from June, 25th. The Ischia Film Festival, in collaboration with the best tourist accommodations of the island, will reserve a special package to the festival guests for the whole week or just for the opening or closing week end.
