The Ischia Film Festival opens with Amos Gitai
[Ischia, June 29th , 2014] Yesterday, Saturday, June 28th,2014 was held , in the picturesque setting of the Aragonese Castle of Ischia Ponte, the opening evening of the twelfth edition of the Ischia Film Festival created and directed by Michelangelo Messina. The screening of the film "Ana Arabia"has had a great success, of the Israeli director Amos Gitai, who has received the Lifetime Achievement Ischia Film Award, with the bronze plaque from the President of the Republic, which each year is delivered to the most prestigious Festival guest. << I'm really happy to be here because Ischia is a magical island - said Gitai -. The main beauty of Ischia is given by its spectacular natural views that, for filmmakers like me, is great inspiration. My way of directing, since I am a former architect and having never done any film school, is based solely on emotions. The camera - said the Israeli director - is for me the most direct way to express what I feel. It’s for this reason that I will continue to make films because I have no intention of quitting >> move me. The interest for the premiere of the short documentary "Bill de Blasio. A mayor in common " has been great; Daniela Riccardi which tells the story of Bill De Blasio, american native of St. Agata dei Goti, who became mayor of New York: the first democratic mayor after 20 years of Republican hegemony.
A strong appeal were also the two national premieres: "And while we were here" by Kat Coiro, feature set between Naples and Ischia, which is a literary adaptation of her grandmother's stories of Coiro's World War II and has as its protagonist the beautiful Kate Bosworth, Iddo Goldberg and young Jamie Blackley, and the short "1% Ers" Francesca de Sola, produced by Quentin Tarantino and shot in Palm Springs California, masterfully played by two great names like Michelle Rodriguez (who starred in Avatar and Fast & Furious and Rie Rasmussen (Human zoo and Angel-A).
A veritable feast of the film which was also attended by many authors including shorts and documentaries: Luciano Schito, author and director of the short film "Angel"; Brunella Filì author and director of the film "Emergency Exit", Tommaso Donati "Casa di Legna" Ferrarini and Matteo Ferrarini author and director of " Buracos.L’eredità del diamante".
