L'Ischia Film Festival

Every year the festival presents a selection of films from all over the world: all of them emphasize the cultural identity or the landscape's features of a certain territory through the audiovisual narration. A jury of personages of the film industry awards the best films among the ones selected for the official competition.
During the Festival week, in addition to the competition's film screenings, there is a special section about "denied location" and there also are omages to important figures of the international film industry. The Festival is an important part of a wider project called "Cinema and territory" that aims at protecting cultural and landscape peculiarities of territories in order to promote them through the audiovisual medium.
Every year the Festival also hosts the BILC, the only European market devoted to locations and film tourism, a place for both a cultural and economic exchange between film industry and territory. Here through studies, researches and case histories, is possible to discuss turistic and economic opportunities created from the co-marketing of film industry and territory. Through these years many important people from the film industry and many scholars of territorial marketing have participated.
Among them there are some Award winning artists like Sir Ken Adam, Vittorio Storaro, Carlo Rambaldi, Alan Lee and John Howe, Gabriella Cristiani and Osvaldo Desideri and famous directors like Abel Ferrara, Pavel Lounguine, Pupi Avati, Mario Monicelli, Kristof Zanussi, Giuliano Montaldo. Moreover many actors like Enrico Lo Verso, Mattia Sbragia, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Lunetta Savino, Sabina Impacciatore, Paolo Villaggio and directors like Antonietta De Lillo, Eduardo Winspeare, Vinzenzo Marra, Francesco Patierno, Giorgio Dirittti and many more, came to prove the importante role of locations in the audiovisual work. Members of the scientific committee of the BILC are important scholars like Dr. Sue Beeton from "La Trobe University", Australia, Dr. Francesco De Cesare from "Ca' Foscari", Venice, Dr. Simon Hudson from Texas University, Dr. Roberto Prevenzano from IULM, Milan and Furio Regente from Università del Sacro Cuore.
Partners of the BILC are the APE (Italian Association of Production Service Companies and Line Producers) and the AFIC (Association of Italian Film Festivals) that runs other similar events that are very important for the promotion of Italian cinema.
From 2004 the Ischia Film Festival is under the Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic.
